Alas Purwo National Park is situated on Blambangan Peninsula in Banyuwangi regency, at the southeastern tip of East Java province. The park is famous for its wild bull and surf location at Grajagan Bay. “Alas” forest or ancient forest, and “Purwa” is the beginning – in accordance with a Javanese legend says that the earth first emerged from the ocean here. Beside rich in flora species, Alas Purwo National Park is also rich in fauna species, both class of mammals, aves and herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians). There are 46 species of mammals in the National Park Alas Purwo.
